What happens in class?

Part 1 : Sounds

In this part, we mess around with our sound-machines in the mirror, encouraging the babies to experiment with their own sound-machine (this is how we boost them towards clearer pronunciation).

Part 2 : Words

Next, we model the meaning of two words in the most powerful way, and then we play 3 or 4 different activities together whilst modelling our key words.

Silliness rating : medium silly

Part 3 : Story

Finally, we give the babies an opportunity to practice being an audience member (a really sophisticated skill to learn) as we listen to a picture book and explore a messy natural texture like leaves, sand, flour, or vegetables.  Babies won't focus on the whole story, we're not expecting that, we are just practicing, and enjoying books and stories together.
Silliness rating : mild silly

Extra info...

In each session, we also work on:

  • Each week we see a different letter-shape and sing about its name, and what it "says" (its phonic).

  • We play with a different natural texture each week like soil, leaves or sand, giving the babies an opportunity to expand their 'repertoire of familiar textures' (which might help them to eat a healthy diet later on).

  • The activities in class are designed to stimulate our babies learning processes, and are carefully designed not to over-stimulate any one sense, so the class might feel "lower-stim" than other classes.

  • The activities are designed to be easy to re-create at home, using everyday household items, and low impact to the environment - we're not playing with expensive toys because we don't need them!
